Squrl Labs, LLC is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights — plainly, without legalese.

Squrl Labs, LLC ("Squrl", "we", "us", or "our") is the company behind Forage, a local-first knowledge graph tool for software development teams. Our registered address is in the United States. Questions about this policy can be directed to privacy@squrl-labs.com.
Forage is a local-first application. Your source code, knowledge graph, and conversation history never leave your machine. On each startup, Forage contacts Squrl's licensing server to verify your token and certificate — that request contains only your license credentials, not your code or any content.
We do not receive:
We do receive: your license token and certificate on each Forage startup, solely to validate your subscription. Beyond licensing, the only other data that reaches Squrl's systems is what you provide directly — such as creating a customer portal account, purchasing a subscription, or contacting us.
Account information. When you register for a Forage account or customer portal, we collect your name, email address, and a hashed password. We use this to authenticate you and communicate with you about your subscription.
Payment information. Payment processing is handled by our third-party payment processor. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers. We receive and retain billing address, transaction ID, and subscription status.
License keys and tokens. We issue and store license keys and API tokens associated with your account to enable you to activate and use Forage.
Communications. If you contact us by email or via our contact form, we retain those communications in order to respond to you and improve our support.
Website analytics. Our marketing website may collect anonymized page-view data (referrer, browser type, country) to understand traffic. We do not use cross-site tracking cookies or sell this data.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.
We use a limited set of third-party services to operate our business:
Each sub-processor is bound by data processing agreements and may not use your data for their own purposes. We do not integrate advertising networks, behavioral analytics, or social media tracking pixels.
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by emailing privacy@squrl-labs.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., financial records).
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@squrl-labs.com. We will respond within 30 days.
We use industry-standard security practices to protect data on our servers, including encrypted connections (TLS), hashed password storage (bcrypt), and access controls. For a detailed description of Forage's local security architecture, see our Security page.
Our customer portal uses a single session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or persistent fingerprinting techniques on any part of our service.
Forage is not directed to individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@squrl-labs.com.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated to active account holders by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
